The NEXT WAVE Summit is a joint endeavour of all NEXT WAVE participants together to grasp a topic at the heart of film and audiences. This year it was developed together with director and core DFFB tutor Christoph Hochhäusler and focusses on visual communication around film.
Graphic design plays a crucial role in communicating film to an audience. HOW TO TARGET THE EYE is the first European summit primarily focusing on film visual communication, aiming to discuss the state of the art of film graphics in the real world, the ‚digisphere‘ and in between.
The 2021 inaugural edition invites leading designers and film industry professionals from all over the world to talk about their work and discuss the role of film design. The two-days-programme will take place on June 18th and 19th, 2021. Various panels and talks explore past, present and future film communication, including a special tribute to the memory of Hans Hillmann’s groundbreaking film design work and a Design Competition for the film ALTRI CANNIBALI by DFFB student Francesco Sossai.
The summit will take place as an online event. Its entire programme will be available to the audience free of charge, upon registration.
